     ASTM C-39 Compression Strength (6 x 12 cylinders)

Equipment: Forney QC-0410-D

1. Strength: 2,974 psi*

Test Date: 12/09/03

Tested Mix: 100% Building Sand

2. Strength: 3,802 psi*

Test Date 11/1103

Tested Mix: 50% 3/8" x #8 pea gravel and 50% Building Sand by weight.

*28 - day test results are based on 7 days wet cure followed by 21 days of dry cure in accordance to Japanese porous concrete testing procedures. Standard 4 x 8 cylinder testing (currently in progress) are expected to yield strength increases of

10 - 15%.

All Test Specimens were made in accordance to ASTM C-192 (Standard Practice for Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Laboratory) and notes contained within this standard for concrete with low water content and minimal slump.

A. TEST RESULTS FOR SAND AGGREGATE

1. Porosity/void space:     18.6%

2 Tumber (Contaberlo):    15.4% breakage loss (This test based on the Spanish

Contaberlo University test for asphalt and how it abrades to road abrasion and uses

the Los Angeles abrasion testing machine. Cylindrical shaped material is placed in a drum and tumbled without steel balls for a 300-revolution duration.) Breakage loss is a measure of weight before test and subtracting intact material weight after tumbling.

3.Water absorption rate: minimum 0.75 x 10-2 (10-2=0.01 cm/sec, or a minumum of 13 to 14 inches per hour.

4. Abrasion/wear    BPN Dry 78

BPN Wet 56 (BPN is given as British Portable Number or UK style of measuring abrasion or wear resistance for road surfaces. A device is drug along the tested material surface and wear is measured. In Japan, control values for roads of 60 or higher and walking paths of 40 or higher are given.)

5. Compression test:   2,841 PSI

6. Raveling test:   Face = 1 cm2 wear volume

Back - 0.63 cm2 wear volume (raveling is measured by using a device similar to a tire with chain installed and run across test piece measuring loss due to wear.

C. Compression Strength

TEST RESULTS FOR ROCK AGGREGATE

1. Test piece:       4" x 8" (100mm x 200mm)

2. Cured period:     28 days

3. Weight:     7.2765 lb.

4. Maximum load:          190 KN

5 (compressive strength:    3, 696 PSI

D. Water Retention

Test piece 8" x 8" x 2" (20cm x 20cm x 5cm, soaked in water for 60 minutes)

1. Dry weight:   3,300g

2. Weight after soaking: 3,635 g

3. Retained water:   335 g

Volume is 20cm x 20cm x 5 cm = 2,000cm3 and absorbed 335 gm or 16.7%.

E. Water passing ability

Test piece 4" circular x 8" thick (100mm x 200mm)

0.062 cm/sec

F. Water toxicity test

1 kg of test material was placed in 30 liters of water with goldfish. The goldfish are still surviving well after 1 year.
